Susie Hodnett, DVM
Dr. Susie Hodnett is a 1981 honor graduate of the Auburn University Veterinary School. She received her undergraduate degree with high honors at North Carolina State University.
Dr. Hodnett established her housecall practice in 1990. Her desire was to create a new practice that would fill a growing need for convenience and quality care. This led to an interest in housecalls.
Veterinary medicine is an evolving field, with new techniques and treatments being continually developed. Dr. Hodnett is dedicated to providing updated veterinary medical services. To this end, she attends continuing education meetings during the year.
She is a member of the Veterinary Information Network, which allows her to discuss specific cases with board-certified veterinarians and research the most recent information available through the Internet.
Dr. Hodnett is married to Heath Efird. Her hobbies include kayaking, reading, horseback riding, and playing the Irish fiddle,Her pets include one dog, one cat, and a horse, a mule, and a donkey.

Dr. Hodnett attends continuing education seminars on a regular basis in order to keep abreast of the most recent advances in veterinary medicine. She attends continuing education classes sponsored by the North Carolina Small Animal Academy throughout the year. Lecturers include professors of veterinary schools and other board certified specialists from across the country.
The state of North Carolina requires that veterinarians complete 21 hours of continuing education annually. Dr. Hodnett averages around 28 hours per year.
